For those who don’t know, this quote comes from Emma Watson’s speech promoting the new #HeForShe campaign. The word #feminist has gotten a bad name. It’s left a bad taste not only with men but also with women. This campaign helps rectify this. Its not about women’s rights. It’s about GENDER EQUALITY. It’s inviting men to join the conversation. Too long we’ve assumed gender equality only involved women. We were wrong. Men’s rights are important if we want this to change. A father is just as important as a mother. A man’s mental illness is just as terrifying as a woman’s. Spousal abuse of a man is just as horrible as that of a woman, physical AND emotional. So take a moment and listen to what she has to say. I know for a FACT that my male friends will appreciate this. Look at your rights, no matter your gender. Think and take a stand. I fully support this campaign and I hope you do too.
The key to success is to keep growing in all areas of life - mental, emotional, spiritual, as well as physical. - Julius Erving
Healing, definitely needed.
Love is not a because, it’s a no matter what.
To oppose, brush aside, or deny pain in our body or mind only makes that feeling more intense. Our painful feelings are not other than ourselves, or to put it more precisely, they are a part of us. To deny them is to deny our very selves.
Thich Nhat Hanh
I will allow space for all the feelings my heart holds. I will not cower or hide from myself. It’s okay to feel the ugly messy things. It’s okay to feel the burning brilliance of beauty. It’s okay to feel the soft winds of happiness and the quiet bursts of loneliness. Its okay to feel it all. It’s okay to be myself, all of myself, not just the good.
